S and S Poultry

We are a small poultry farm located in Eastern North Carolina.

We have Gray Indian Runner ducks and Muscovy ducks in various colors.

The Indian Runner ducks are a very unusual breed of duck.  They have been described as a

wine bottle with legs.  In size they can be up to 14 inches tall and they weigh around 3 to 5

pounds.  They are quiet and known for their excellent egg laying production.  Also they

very rarely go broody.  They are known to outproduce many breeds of chickens in the

number of eggs they lay each year.  Although these ducks are small and have not been

bred for a table bird, many regard them as being well-flavored, rather similar to the taste

 of wild ducks.

Hatching eggs are $30.00 per dozen or $15.00 per 1/2 dozen plus shipping cost.

A little history behind the Muscovy duck. They are the only breed of duck not decended

from wild mallard stock and are from South America.  They do not quack like other ducks

and they also  wag their tails.  The Muscovies are large ducks, drakes 10 to 15 pounds and

hens 5 to 7  pounds. They are calm natured and can be quite friendly if handled. They do

have sharp  claws and can climb and fly when young.  They are excellant mothers and

sitters. Ours quiet frequently hatch out broods of 15 to 20 ducklings.  They also require a

longer incubation period then other ducks, 35 days instead of 28 days.  They are great

meat ducks and are flavored more like beef then wild ducks.

Hatching eggs are $20.00 per dozen or $10.00 per 1/2 dozen plus shipping cost.
