We have White Embden and Toulouse Geese, both are large geese with the gander about
20 pounds and the goose about 16 pounds. We find the geese to be the most intelligent of
our birds and can be very tame if handled often.
White Embden geese are pure white with a light orange, short, bill, and orange feet and
shanks. The Embden's legs are fairly short. The head is oval-shaped and they have a long
and graceful neck. The eyes are blue. The body is bulky and well rounded, having a long
back and a short tail. The wings are very strong and of a good length. The feathers are
close and very hard. The adult bird will commence laying eggs fairly early in the year, in
February as a rule, laying 30 to 40 eggs. Ours have made great sitters and both the male
and female raise the young together. Also they are an excellent table bird.
Hatching eggs are $4.00 each plus shipping cost.
The Toulouse Geese are dark grey on their back shading to a light grey on their breasts.
Their bill, shanks and feet are a deep reddish orange. They are very quiet and have an
excellent temperament. They are also an excellent table bird of all dark meat. Like the
Embdens, both the male and female raise the young together.
Hatching eggs are $4.00 each plus shipping cost.
